Figueira de Sousa – Transportes e Mobilidade, in partnership with IESE, developed the Strategic Referential Sea Plan Madeira 2030. Among the main objectives associated with the plan we highlight the following:
- Definition of the vision and the strategic positioning of RAM for the Sea and Coastline, identifying the distinctive and critical success factors for the valorization of the activities and resources array for the Sea Economy.
- Building a perspective of activities clustering, in 2030 horizon, supported by the implementation of an Action Plan framing measures, actions, projects and business ideas, with the operational support programming tools and monitoring initiatives (scientific, economic, educational and sports) related to the Sea and the Coastline.
- Designing an attractiveness enhancer tool of the Economic activities aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the RAM in the global market, in a perspective of sustained and sustainable development of the Sea.
The methodological approach favored a multi-method perspective which highlights:
(I) The analysis of statistical information;
(Ii) The analysis of documentary information;
(Iii) The interviews and meetings cycles with public entities (Regional and Local Administration), associations and private;
(Iv) The inquisition of the school community (teachers and students);
(V) Benchmarking analysis, seeking to capitalize on the existing technical and scientific knowledge (national and global);
(Vi) Conducting prospective analysis sessions to support the construction of development scenarios.
